SceneNote is a tool for collecting timestamped feedback on video, audio and images. You create a project, share a link, and people leave notes against the moment or the frame they are talking about. There is a free tier and a paid tier.
By using SceneNote you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use it.
You keep every right you have in the media you upload or link, and in the notes you write. We claim no ownership of any of it.
You give us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store your files, encode video into playable qualities, generate still images and waveforms, transcribe voice notes, and show all of it to the people you share the link with. Nothing more. We do not use your content to train AI models and we do not licence it to anyone.
You confirm that you have the right to upload and share what you put into SceneNote. You must not use it for:
Project links are the key to a project. Anyone who has one can open the project and leave feedback, and anyone with an owner link gets owner powers. Deciding who receives a link is your responsibility. Set a password on anything sensitive.
The free tier includes a fixed amount of storage and a limited number of projects with uploaded media. The paid tier raises both and adds further features. The current figures are shown on the site and in your account.
Every project has a monthly allowance for how much video it can deliver. This exists so that one project being watched enormously does not make the service unaffordable to run. If a project goes past its allowance in a calendar month, video for that project continues to play but at a lower quality until the month resets. Nobody is cut off and no notes are affected.
We may adjust these limits. If a change reduces what you already have, we will tell you before it takes effect.
Subscriptions are sold by Dodo Payments as merchant of record and renew automatically until you cancel. Prices are shown before you buy and exclude any tax that applies where you live.
You can cancel at any time from your account. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not end the period you have already paid for, and you keep full use until that period ends.
You must be at least 18 to buy a subscription.
Fourteen-day money-back guarantee. If SceneNote is not for you, write to info@visual-tone.com within 14 days of a payment and we will refund it in full. No explanation needed.
This is in addition to whatever cancellation rights the law gives you where you live. The full policy is at /legal/refunds.
Nothing disappears without warning, and your notes are never deleted at any point in what follows.
If a payment fails, everything keeps working normally for 14 days while you sort the card out. After that your account becomes read only: you cannot upload new media or add new versions, but every project still opens, plays, takes feedback and exports, and every link you have shared keeps working. If nothing changes, uploaded media is removed 45 days after the failed payment. A week before that we email you a private link to download your original files.
If you cancel, you keep everything until the end of the period you paid for. Then the same read-only state applies for 30 days, then media is removed, again with the download link a week beforehand.
If you return to the free tier while using more than it allows, you have 30 days to delete what you do not need or resubscribe. After that we remove the media from your oldest projects only, and only until you are back within the free limits.
Your notes, replies, drawings, poll results and exports are kept through all of this, and remain available after the media they refer to has gone.
Uploaded media on a free account is removed 30 days after the last upload to that project, with a warning email a week beforehand and a download link on the day. A project created without an account is deleted entirely after 45 days without activity. Link projects belonging to an account are kept until you delete them.
We work hard to keep SceneNote running and your data safe, but we cannot promise it will never be unavailable or never lose data. It is provided without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows.
Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. SceneNote is a review tool, not a backup or an archive.
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
We may suspend or remove a project or an account that breaks section 3, or that puts the service or other users at risk. Where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you first and give you the chance to download your files.
You must be at least 13 to use SceneNote, and at least 18 to buy a subscription.
We may change these terms. If a change matters to you we will say so on the site and, if you hold an account, by email. Continuing to use SceneNote after a change means you accept it.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and disputes fall to the courts of South Africa. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not take away rights you have under the law of the country you live in.
