SceneNote is a tool for collecting timestamped feedback on video, audio and images. You create a project, share a link, and people leave notes against the moment or frame they are talking about. There is a free tier and a paid tier.
By using SceneNote you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use it.
You keep every right in the media you upload or link and in the notes you write. We claim no ownership of any of it.
You grant us only the permission needed to store, process and display your content to the people you share it with, so that we can run the service for you. We do not use your content to train AI models and we do not license it to anyone.
You confirm that you have the right to upload and share what you put into SceneNote. You must not use it:
Project links are the key to a project. Anyone holding one can open it and leave feedback, and anyone holding an owner link has owner control. Deciding who receives a link is your responsibility.
The free tier includes a fixed amount of storage and a limited number of projects with uploaded media. The paid tier raises both and adds further features. Each project also has a monthly streaming allowance; beyond it, video continues to play at a lower quality until the month resets. Nothing is cut off and no notes are affected. Current figures are shown on the site and in your account.
We may adjust these limits. If a change reduces what you already have, we will tell you before it takes effect.
Subscriptions are sold by Dodo Payments as merchant of record and renew automatically until you cancel. Prices are shown before you buy and exclude any tax that applies where you live.
You can cancel at any time from your account. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep full use until the end of the period you have paid for.
You must be at least 18 to buy a subscription.
Fourteen-day money-back guarantee. If SceneNote is not for you, write to info@visual-tone.com within 14 days of a payment and we will refund it in full. No explanation needed.
This is in addition to any cancellation rights the law gives you where you live. The full policy is at /legal/refunds.
Nothing is deleted without notice.
If a payment fails, everything keeps working for 14 days while you update your payment details.
When a subscription ends, whether by cancellation or an unresolved payment, your account becomes read-only for 30 days: you cannot upload media or add versions, but your projects still open, play and take feedback. Projects with uploaded media are then locked for a further 60 days, during which you can restore them by resubscribing or download your files. After that they are deleted in full, including notes.
If you return to the free tier while over its limits, you have 30 days to reduce your usage or resubscribe. After that, your oldest projects with uploaded media expire until you are within the limits, and are deleted in full 14 days later unless you return to Pro.
We email you before each of these steps. Link projects are not affected.
A project with uploaded media on a free account expires 30 days after its last upload. We email you a week beforehand and on the day, with a link to download your files. An expired project cannot be opened and is deleted in full 14 days later unless you upgrade to Pro. A project created without an account is deleted after 45 days without activity. Link projects in an account are kept until you delete them.
We work to keep SceneNote running and your data safe, but we cannot promise it will never be unavailable or never lose data. The service is provided without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows.
Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. SceneNote is a review tool, not a backup or an archive.
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
We may suspend or remove a project or an account that breaks section 3, or that puts the service or other users at risk. Where reasonable, we will tell you first and give you the chance to download your files.
You must be at least 13 to use SceneNote, and at least 18 to buy a subscription.
We may change these terms. If a change matters to you we will say so on the site and, if you hold an account, by email. Continuing to use SceneNote after a change means you accept it.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and disputes fall to the courts of South Africa. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not take away rights you have under the law of the country you live in.
