Account holders: your email address, a display name if you set one, your projects and the storage they use, and a record of any subscription. We hold no passwords and no card details.
Google sign-in: your email address and Google account identifier, and nothing else. We receive no access to your Google Drive, files or contacts.
Anyone using a project, with or without an account: the display name you type; the notes, replies, drawings, poll answers and voice notes you leave; and your email address if you ask to be notified of new notes. A reply you send to a notification email is posted to the project as a note.
Every visitor: IP address and browser information, used to serve the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse.
Sign-ins: the browser and approximate location of each sign-in to an account, shown on your settings page so you can recognise and end your own sessions. They are removed when the sign-in ends.
Media: media you link from another service stays with that service; we store the link. Media you upload is stored by us. Voice notes, and uploaded media where the owner requests it, are transcribed to text.
To provide and secure the service, prevent abuse, email you about your projects and billing, and meet our legal obligations. Where we rely on your consent, such as notification email, you may withdraw it at any time. We also keep anonymous usage statistics that contain no personal information.
We do not sell personal information, we do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not advertise.
Only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract and on our instructions, for hosting and storage, media processing and delivery, email, speech to text, payments and analytics. A current list is available on request from info@visual-tone.com.
If you sign in with Google, Google processes that sign-in under its own privacy policy.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.
Our providers may process information outside your country, including in the European Union, the United Kingdom, South Africa and the United States. Cross-border transfers rely on the safeguards permitted by applicable law, including standard contractual clauses.
Anyone holding a project link can open that project and see the feedback in it. An owner link gives owner control to whoever holds it. The owner of a project can see activity on it, including the display names people chose and when they took part. We do not index or publish project content.
We use a cookie only to keep account holders signed in. Opening a project link sets none, and we use no advertising or tracking cookies. Small preferences, such as the name you last used, are kept in your own browser. An embedded YouTube or Vimeo player may set its own cookies under that service's policy.

Notes are kept for as long as their project exists and are deleted with it.
You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and portability. You can export your data, delete your account and turn off notification email from your settings, or unsubscribe from any such email. For anything else, write to info@visual-tone.com.
South African users may complain to the Information Regulator. Users in the European Union or the United Kingdom may complain to their local supervisory authority.
SceneNote is not directed at children. You must be at least 13 to use it and at least 18 to buy a subscription. If we learn that we hold personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it.
Information is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access to it is restricted. No service can guarantee perfect security. If a breach affects you, we will notify you as the law requires.
Changes are posted here with an updated date. If a change is significant we will tell account holders by email.
